Evangelism Committee

The word “evangelical” is derived from the Greek, and means, literally, good angel, or good messenger.  Of course, the good message we have to share is the love of God in Christ.  The Evangelism Committee does this through a dual approach of outreach and hospitality to our members, friends and community. 

Examples of our hospitality efforts include new member fellowships, the new member kit, and the annual Lutheran Day at Shea or Yankee Stadium.  We are enthused about a number of projects, including an Evangelism Committee Sunday, the launching of small group ministries, and permanent nametags.  Already underway is our participation in a workshop entitled “Evangelism for Mid-size Congregations” – we hope to implement various strategies from this workshop and apply them to help Emanuel grow in faith and numbers.
