Welcome Friends


The social Ministry Committee promotes outreach activities benefiting the local community, as well as programs in the greater metropolitan area and the world at large. This committee meets 3-4 times a year to decide how to best serve the Emanuel community and beyond. The people of Emanuel offer their time, talent and financial support in a caring way. BLOOD DONOR DRIVE
Annually, in January.
BEDFORD CORRECTIONAL FACILITY CHILDREN�S PROGRAM
Donating Christmas gifts and promoting a service to the inmates by encouraging our members to host their children in the summer.
BREAD for the WORLD
Offering of letters written annually by Emanuel�s members to our Congressional Members urging them to support legislation and policies to alleviate world hunger and poverty.
BRONX YOUTH MISSION
Providing school supplies, and financial aid to the After School and summer Camp programs to the Transfiguration Lutheran Church in the Bronx.
CARING COOKS
Volunteers prepare food for Emanuel families at times of illness or other stressful events. We would like to develop a roster of volunteers willing to prepare meals when needed and names of person willing to drive the meals to these families. If interested in helping out, call Irene Kogelmann @944-1406 or Cathy in the church office.
CHRISTIAN CHILDREN�S FUND
Offerings enable our sponsorship of two children in Kenya, with additional money for their birthdays and Christmas.
ELCA WORLD HUNGER APPEAL AND DISASTER RELIEF
Donations are encouraged throughout the year.
INTERFAITH SOCIAL CONCERNS
Ministry to Pleasantville and Hudson Valley residents in need (i.e.: fire victims)
LUTHERAN SOCIAL SERVICES
Mother�s Day gift collection for teenage mothers and their children at facilities in the Bronx and Brooklyn.
MIDNIGHT RUN
Food, warm clothing and toiletries delivered to homeless in NYC � a cooperative project with Holy Innocents Catholic Church. For more information email the church office with "Midnight Run" in the subject.
NEIGHBOR�S LINK
Provides a meal in the winter for the day laborers� center in Mt. Kisco.
NORTHERN WESTCHESTER SHELTER
Provides household items for the abused women and their children helping them to set up their households again.
PLEASANTVILLE INTERFAITH FOOD PANTRY
Continual donations of food and money and participation in food distribution bi-weekly.
